S'appening!
So I've just got back from the Snowbombing festival in Austria, what a week! I can honestly say I've never felt so exhausted in my life. Myself and James went out there to film a run down of each day whilst Kate (Katers17 on Youtube) went to film are more hands on experience of each day. The tough bit was finding time to eat and sleep, you know, the basics of being of human being! I started to realise that the other production teams and presenters seemed really refreshed and ready to go each day whereas as we were slowly losing it as the days went went. You can really notice how tired I am on the last day! The reason this was the case was because each crew had dedicated editors which would take over once the filming was down, on our team we had to edit, film and present with little time to rest. But I'm not complaining at all, it was a great experience and I'd love to go back but have to time to chill out and enjoy myself.
I met lots of great people and did a hell of a lot of networking too. My name has been put about quite a bit and you should hopefully see more of me on the presenting side of things soon. A big thank you especially to Kylee (side pic) who is the Marketing Director for Volvo, he made my experience that much better by getting me backstage to have a normal chat with the acts instead of the typical questions they hear everyday from presenters like me.
I also met a lot of new and old DJ's and Bands including Fatboy Slim, The Enemy, Doves, Yoda and The Whip but I can't forget to mention 2 guys who go under the names of Dan Le Sac and Scroobious Pip. One word, Amazing! I'd Never heard of them before and we was extremely lucky to actually get an interview because they were literally around for the day, in fact I think the only other team to get an interview were channel 4 so it was quite an honour. I saw them play that night and they blew me away. I'm currently downloading their album "Logic Of Chance" from iTunes right now as it goes! Yea that's right, I pay for my music :) Be sure to check them out!
Whilst I'm here I might aswel address the subject of "Selling Out" because that's what I've been branded over the past week or so. Since the beginning of my YouTube experience I've openly said that I want to make it into the media industry so when opportunities like this come up then I'd be a mug not to take them. I'm not actually doing it for money in any way shape or form, I'm actually compiling a showreel which I can send out in order to get myself out there more. If I'm to be paid any money at all it's a bonus to me.
I do understand things from the audience perspective though. Over the years I've made lots of videos which interacted with you, the audience, and that's when I felt that I was happiest with my youtube experience. I've sort of moved on from that now because I'm attempting to move up however it would be great to get back to how it used to be which is why I'm going to "attempt" to get back into those interactive shows I used to make using the power of facebook and twitter to help me out. Podcasts will be back too along with lots of high quality sketches for you to enjoy too! Happy?? you better be!
Would be great to have something from me every week but right now it's not possible with me being full time at work. Watch this space :)
Thanks reading and understanding
